I haven't posted since December. Sorry. Today I finally ran another Claremont Standard and set a new PR by 11 seconds. Finally. After running a half marathon in December - embarrassingly slow - and battling numerous calf strains, hamstring pulls and hip flexor pulls, I can finally run without pain again. Sucks to get old, huh?
Generally, I feel great. I haven't lost much weight but I think I've gained some muscle over the last six months. Summer is almost here and I'm planning to do a lot of cycling which will most certainly help me lose a few more pounds.
Maybe I'll run the Starlight run this year - always a blast. Hood to Coast is out since I don't want to miss my kids' football scrimmage weekend. But there are a ton of awesome running events around Portland this Summer so I'll certainly pick a few races and keep pushing to get faster.
My training program is currently 2-3 times per week on the bike, 1-2 runs per week, and 1-2 weight sessions per week. I find it very difficult to lift indoors on beautiful summer days - so I don't.
Here's to a great Summer! Enjoy the great weather and don't get trapped indoors when you should be out there on your bike, walking or running, playing tennis or generally carousing around the neighborhood.
